SIGNATURE SUNSET SERIES TRANSIT SHELTERS
LOCATION
As the third most populous city in North Carolina, Greensboro is known for its nightlife, shopping, and idyllic and educational attractions, from gardens to science centers.
Greensboro Transit Agency (GTA) ensures the citizens and tourists of Greensboro, second only in population to Charlotte and Raleigh, are able to travel to the city’s many attractions and use its essential services through the GTA’s fleet of over 110 fixed-route buses and paratransit vans that serve approximately 260,000 people annually over 131 square miles.
Tolar Manufacturing worked with GTA, City of Greensboro, and selected contractors to design and fabricate over 25 bus shelters since 2018.
PROJECT SCOPE
Beginning with our popular Signature Sunset shelters, the Tolar team created customized solutions that resulted in three distinct bus shelter styles to best reflect the character of the greater Greensboro area neighborhoods and business centers.
The all-aluminum constructed shelters are 10 feet in length and are covered with a fully welded radius roof. While some of the shelters are surrounded by perforated aluminum panel rear and end walls, others showcase 3/8- inch tempered safety glass with and without “The Gate City” branding. All shelters provide LED solar security lighting for passenger safety with each shelter including a 5-ft Mesa aluminum frame recycle slat bench.

The NCDOT Product Evaluation Program (PEP) provides a comprehensive evaluation of products that make North Carolina’s transportation network safer and infrastructure projects both easier and faster to build, with quality that ensures a long useful life.
