Known as the “Country Music Capital of the World,” Nashville, Tennessee is a hub of Americana culture and commerce. With a population of over 2 million in the greater metropolitan area, the city continues to grow with vibrant culinary, nightclub, and entertainment scenes that reflect a culture of both tradition and emerging trends in the heart of the nation. This state capital is home to iconic features such as the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, Grand Ole Opry, Parthenon, and the Ryman Auditorium which celebrating the city’s rich history while spotlighting tomorrow’s performers.
As Nashville’s public transit provider, WeGo Public Transit supports one of the fastest growing cities in the U.S. with 11 transit initiatives aimed to keep the city moving and improve the rider experience, announced in 2025 as part of the Choose How You Move Transportation Improvement Program.
Tolar Manufacturing partnered with WeGo Public Transit to support Nashville’s transit development by delivering over 150 custom bus shelters and amenities.
These installations are part of a broader initiative to add 164 new bus stops citywide—enhancing accessibility, comfort, and the overall rider experience. So far in 2025, 30 E-Paper Real-Time Information Signs (RTIS), 100 PV Stop+ installations with solar-powered illumination on bus stop poles, 50 advertising benches, and 24 new shelters have been installed.
This collaboration underscores Tolar’s ongoing commitment to creating community-focused, innovative, and functional transit solutions that meet the needs of growing urban environments.
The amenities included 8’, 12’ and 16’ Tolar Sunset shelters with advertising displays, the first Sunset advertising shelters for the city of Nashville, as well as 16’ and 20’ BRT Shelters based upon the Sunset design and includes mounting for Daktronics RTIS provided and installed by WeGo. Also included were ten Eco Shade shelters, which feature two fully welded bench seats mounted on both sides of the center column, providing seating at smaller bus stops, and 16’ Voyager MAX shelters with agency branding and logos installed at The Fairgrounds Nashville on Nolensville Rd. All shelters feature a radius roof design, aluminum and steel construction, and fully welded roof structure.
Solar lighting systems are integrated into the roof structures providing automatic dusk-to-dawn security lighting and additional power for E-Paper RTIS signage. All parts are finished in super durable baked powder coat. Other amenities that were installed include 13” pole mounted E-Paper RTIS signs that operate with long-life battery power and 100 PV Stop+ with RTIS and dusk to dawn security lighting to keep riders and transit operators secure and visible.
