Tolar Manufacturing Company designs innovative modular transit shelters for Tradepoint Atlantic, the largest multi-modal site in the Baltimore/DC market
Tolar Manufacturing Company was contracted by Tradepoint Atlantic, a 3,300-acre industrial site with significant intermodal global logistics hubs, to design and build nine transit shelters to help facilitate the transportation of employees moving in and out of the site. In keeping with the innovative nature of the location, Tolar Manufacturing was tasked with two major design elements – the shelters were required to be modular and they were to be branded to fit within the Tradepoint Atlantic image.
“We are thrilled with Tolar and their ability to assist us in developing a best in class transit shelter program to support our diverse and rapidly growing tenant base.”
“We are thrilled with Tolar and their ability to assist us in developing a best in class transit shelter program to support our diverse and rapidly growing tenant base. When building out our industrial park, we wanted to provide a quality experience for the thousands of workers that use public transportation to get to Tradepoint Atlantic. Tolar took time to understand our needs and helped customize a shelter system that perfectly combines quality design with the flexibility and durability needed for everyday commercial and industrial use. Without a doubt, we have the best shelters within the Baltimore regional transit system,” said Chad Waskey Director of Property Management for Tradepoint Atlantic.
Modeled after the Tolar Manufacturing’s reverse peak roof Niagara shelter series, the 16-foot, 32-foot, and 48-foot shelters are customized with modular flexibility available in single, double and triple wide options to accommodate varying footprints throughout the property. The industrial yet modern design incorporates many amenities important for a bus shelter in the Baltimore area, including double wind screen walls made of protective polycarbonate and perforated panels, under roof security lighting, and overhead 208V electric 2500W infrared heaters with controls. Customized Tradepoint branding is cleverly integrated into the roof gable and through the super durable, color-specific, baked powder coat finish.
“We are honored to be part of this historic build-out,” said President Gary Tolar of Tolar Manufacturing Company. “This site was the home of a 125-year-old steel mill and now it’s getting a new life as a multimodal property at the Port of Baltimore. It’s exciting to be adding our shelters to this intermodal transportation project.”
Tolar Manufacturing Company continues to work with Tradepoint to deliver additional modular transit shelters as the property continues to be developed.
