Tolar Manufacturing Partners with WeGo Public Transit to Keep One of America’s Fastest Growing Cities Moving
Tolar Manufacturing Company, North America’s leader in the design and fabrication of transit shelters and street furniture, is proud to partner with WeGo Public Transit under a new five-year contract valued at up to $9 million to manufacture and deliver bus shelters, benches, and related transit stop amenities across the WeGo service area. As one of the fastest growing cities in the United States, Nashville depends on public transportation to move people through a growing community, and this partnership helps ensure riders have safe, comfortable, clean, and well-lit places to wait for their ride.

The agreement builds on Tolar’s longstanding relationship with WeGo Public Transit, which most recently included the delivery of more than 150 custom bus shelters and amenities in support of Nashville’s transit development.
Under the contract, Tolar is providing its Signature Series transit shelters, Ecoshade shelters designed for narrow right-of-way locations, and Voyager MAX shelters, along with custom shelter configurations to fit individual site requirements. Ranging in lengths including 8’, 12’, 16’, 20’ and even 40’, the shelters are built with fully welded roof structures, interior solar or electric powered LED lighting for passenger safety and security, and a super durable baked powder coat finish available in a wide range of standard and custom-matched colors. Mesa benches and lean rails, advertising kiosks, bike racks, and post-mount and freestanding trash receptacles round out the amenities portfolio. Tolar’s modular approach keeps parts interchangeable across shelter models, minimizing assembly time and simplifying maintenance and parts replacement over the life of each installation.
The contract also includes Tolar’s UL Listed solar lighting systems, developed with partner Urban Solar, providing automatic dusk-to-dawn shelter illumination without the expense of trenching or utility connections. E-Paper Real-Time Transit Information Signs in both 13″ and larger 32″ formats deliver live next bus arrival data in a vandal-resistant enclosure with a text-to-speech button for accessibility, along with PV Stop+ solar lighting that extends security lighting to bus stop poles stops throughout the WeGo system.
