SIGNATURE SERIES TRANSIT SHELTERS

LOCATION

The city of Goleta is located in Santa Barbara County, California, about 10 miles west of downtown Santa Barbara and 100 miles northwest of Los Angeles. Incorporated in 2002, Goleta is home to nearly 33,000 residents and sits alongside the University of California, Santa Barbara and the Santa Barbara Municipal Airport. What began as an agricultural community has grown into a hub of research, technology, and commerce along California’s South Coast, supported by a growing network of commercial parks.

Santa Barbara Metropolitan Transit District (MTD) provides fixed-route bus service connecting Goleta to Santa Barbara and the surrounding South Coast.

PROJECT SCOPE

Tolar Manufacturing Company fabricated this 10-ft Signature Sunset shelter for a growing commercial park in Goleta, providing shade and comfort for commuters amid the site’s lush surrounding landscape. The shelter supports three MTD routes serving the area.

Passengers can rest at the Mesa-style bench with seat delineators while sheltered beneath 3/8″ heat-formed bronze and polycarbonate curved roof panels, held by multi-channel horizontal and vertical aluminum posts. Decorative spun escutcheons round out the shelter’s modern aesthetic.

Other amenities include a matching trash receptacle, branded route flag, and an easy-to-read, pole-mounted schedule display.
