Tolar Manufacturing Company secures third consecutive multi-year agreement with Dallas Area Rapid Transit

Tolar Manufacturing Company was recently awarded its third consecutive multi-year contract to supply and install transit shelters and solar solutions that power self-contained LED illumination, real-time information and security devices for Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) in Dallas, Texas. This over $4 million contract was awarded to Tolar Manufacturing after a comprehensive evaluation process.

In addition to general market shelters, Tolar Manufacturing has developed a customized SmartPlace™ transit shelter solution that includes real-time passenger information, illuminated advertising displays, night lighting, and security cameras, all powered with state-of-the-art ECM-Connect® smart solar technology provided by Urban Solar. “Urban Solar is honored to partner with Tolar Manufacturing for this project for Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART). Our award-winning solar-powered transit lighting products are an excellent fit with their Sense of Place™ shelters, and meet DART’s high standards for innovative, renewable bus stop amenities,” said Jeff Peters, President, Urban Solar.

Under the new contract, both general market and SmartPlace™ transit shelters will continue to be installed within the greater Dallas area providing distinctive at-stop digital solutions to address growing passenger expectations. Additionally, Tolar Manufacturing will collaborate with DART on the design of their next generation transit shelters, which will build upon the overall Sense of Place™ being created for the DART community.
