Tolar Manufacturing Company delivers 20 bus shelters to Lawrence, Kansas

Tolar Manufacturing Company, North America’s leader in the design and fabrication of award-winning transit shelters, has delivered 10 Signature Crescent bus shelters to Lawrence Transit in Kansas, fulfilling its latest contract order, which has totaled 20 new shelters since February 2021. Purchased by the City of Lawrence, the shelters are located throughout the city’s service area, helping to fulfill the transit agency’s Bus Stop Improvement Program. Lawrence Transit has 376 bus stops, 17% of which currently have bus shelters.  The newest Tolar-built shelters recently delivered will add 10 additional stops with shelters to the Lawrence Transit service.

“We appreciate the commitment the City of Lawrence is making to its community through their Bus Stop Improvement Program,” said Scott Williams, Tolar Manufacturing Company Business Development Manager. “By seeking community input, we are able to design and build shelters with amenities the public truly wants to support their transportation journey.”

The most recent 10 transit shelters delivered by Tolar Manufacturing to Lawrence include integrated solar-powered lighting providing reliable and cost-efficient illumination for the safety and comfort of Lawrence Transit passengers. All delivered bus shelters incorporate solid aluminum roof panels secured by gasketed pressure ribs and an 8-ft x 5-ft shelter roof drip line. Custom curved aluminum I-Beam rear posts have fixed base plates for surface mounting, and a cantilever design that provides a clear path of travel and easy bus boarding.  Perforated aluminum panels comprise the rear wall and the end wall of the shelter. The entire shelter is finished in a gray color super durable baked powder coat finish. Each shelter also includes a distinctive Crescent backless bench with matching Crescent design for waiting passengers.

“Lawrence Transit looks forward to continuing our Bus Stop Improvement Program and providing high quality amenities at our bus stops. Solar lights are an exciting and much asked for addition to our bus shelters.” Felice Lavergne, Transit Planner II.
