30 bus shelters delivered to the City of Tallahassee, Florida
Tolar Manufacturing Company, North America’s leader in the design and fabrication of award-winning transit shelters, has delivered 30 Signature Sunset bus shelters to the City of Tallahassee, Florida, helping to provide an enhanced rider experience on the City’s StarMetro public transit service, which begins and ends at the bus stop. The shelters were purchased under a cooperative purchase agreement with neighboring Jacksonville Transportation Authority.
Tolar designed and fabricated two shelter lengths, 10-ft and 12-ft, to meet StarMetro’s size and foundation requirements and narrow footprints while offering solid aluminum roof panels to provide maximum passenger shade during those hot Florida months. Some of the shelters provide revenue-generating advertising opportunities through oversize displays that are lit with solar illumination. Solar also powers important rooftop security lighting. Each shelter provides comfortable seating and rider convenience with 24-in x 36-in map cases showcasing transit ridership information.
