Bus Stop and Transit Shelters: Sierra Series

SIERRA-06

17′ Sierra dome roof transit shelter with aluminum roof panels, decorative roof battens, v angled backlit advertising kiosk, and Victorian-style perforated metal rear wall.

For more than 30 years, the Sierra Series has helped transit agencies turn an ordinary bus stop into a place that connects a community to the people who depend on it. Originally engineered to serve the communities in and around San Diego, the Sierra remains one of Tolar’s most requested shelter lines, pairing a classic, purpose-driven look with the structural integrity that has defined it from the start. As rider needs have evolved, Tolar’s designers and engineers have continued to refine the line, adding modern amenities without compromising the base design.

Agencies can specify the Sierra in lengths from 9 to 24 feet and widths up to 5 feet 8 inches, with dome, low peak, high peak, hip or Mansard roofs to suit the streetscape. Enclosures use tempered glass or tough, transparent Lexan, with perforated metal options in Victorian and Herringbone styles that lend themselves well to public art. An optional advertising media kiosk can run on traditional 110V or solar power and supports digital advertising, real-time information and USB charging. Roof designs accommodate rain gutters and an optional housing for security lighting, and every Sierra shelter is made in the USA and Buy America compliant.
